Achillea millefolium ‘Cassis’
WINE YARROW
Achillea millefolium ‘Cassis’ is “forget-about-it” easy, even in hard conditions and very rewarding.
Deep blackcurrant-cherry colour just like Cassis
Because it delivers flower heads of the richest deep blackcurrant-cherry, just like the colour of Cassis liqueur.
(Cassis is a delectable French liqueur made from blackcurrants – if you have not yet tried it you have a treat in store).
Specially bred for longer, more prolific blooming
This new and select Achillea bears deeply glowing heads over spring, summer and autumn.
And has been especially bred as a commercial floristry flower – with longer, more prolific blooming than older varieties, as well as unfadingly rich colour.
Superb commercial quality florist’s flowers
‘Cassis’ provides superb fresh cut flowers, as well as showy garden display for month after month of exceptionally sumptuous colour.
With flowers borne on long, strong, clean stems and having a long vase life, just as the breeders designed.
So ‘Cassis’ is highly regarded by flower farmers as a commercial quality cut flower for floristry, as well as a desirable colour in fresh arrangements.
Eco-friendly confetti and pot-pourri
Plus ‘Cassis’ retains it’s rich colouring well when dried – so it is also popular for eco-friendly confetti and commercial pot-pourri.
“Forget-about-it” easy, even in hard conditions
Plant Achillea millefolium ‘Cassis’ in Full Sun to Part Shade (as long as the partially shaded area is not damp).
Where you will find it is hardy in heat, dry, frost, humidity, and poor soil.
So ‘Cassis’ is a very water-wise choice for gardeners with hot and dry conditions.
But it also tolerates a degree of humidity in the atmosphere if necessary, so ‘Cassis’ will make a go of it for sub-tropical gardeners too.
Hardy evergreen perennial
Achillea millefolium ‘Cassis’ is a hardy evergreen perennial.
And this excellent new release forms neat, dense clumps of low, ferny foliage and abundant flowering stems.
‘Cassis’ is clump forming and not invasive, unlike some of the older Achillea varieties.
The compact clumps are 60-75cm. high when in bloom, and approximately 30cm. wide.
SEED SOWING ADVICE: QUICK & EASY
Suitable for beginners & gardening with kids
Seeds can be successfully sown at any time of year.
You can simply scatter the seeds in the garden / or sow seeds in punnets indoors for early plants.
Sow indoors for quick & early flowers: Scatter the seeds on the surface of good quality seed raising mix and press gently.
But do not cover the seeds. Because these seeds need light to germinate.
Then place the sown, moist punnet in a well lit place (not in direct sunlight).
Temperatures of 18-25C are best for rapid and optimum germination.
Seedlings emerge in approximately 5-10 days.
Seed Count: Minimum 60 seeds per packet approximately.
(We aim to make our seed counts on the generous side – so you will receive at least 300 seeds)
