Antirrhinum majus ‘Twinny Rose’
DOUBLE ROSE SNAPDRAGONS

Antirrhinum majus ‘Twinny Rose’ is like a bouquet of pretty pink double rose buds.

Double butterflies like pink rose buds

Because each stem displays unique blends of soft pinks shading from rosy centres to softest pink petal edges.
The bunches of flowers also open pale pink at first, then deepen to rose as the flowers mature – so you get all shades on the bush at once.
So the lovely massed blooms look like a whole bouquet of double, frilly rosebuds.

Tough little go-er in wind & heat

Antirrhinum majus ‘Twinny Rose’ looks so delicate and pretty, but it is actually a tough little go-er, despite the delicate good looks.
The flower spires are compact, exceptionally weather hardy and windproof as well as heat resistant.

Outstanding commercial cut flowers

‘Twinny Rose’ is outstanding for commercial quality cut flowers in an ever-appealing colour.
Despite being so compact and easy to grow in the field or garden.

Gorgeous in a pot or garden

Plant Antirrhinum majus ‘Twinny Rose’ in Sun to Part Shade.
It suits a wide range of soils, including sandy, as long as the position is well drained.
And they are particularly lovely in a container or decorative pot with their gorgeous colouring, compact growth and exceptionally long blooming season.

Quick & easy to raise from seed & fast to bring to bloom

Antirrhinum majus is actually a short lived perennial and will go on blooming for several years if left in the garden over winter.
But they are so quick and easy to raise from seed, and fast to bring to flower from seed, that they are often treated as annual.
Antirrhinum majus ‘Twinny Rose’ usually comes to flower in just 75-80 days from sowing the seed.

Exceptionally long blooming

Antirrhinum majus ‘Twinny Rose’ has also been designed for outstanding garden display, as well as commercial cut flowers.
It blooms long and hard in Full Sun, but will also perform creditably in Partly Shaded positions.
While the stout stems are toughly weatherproof.

Stunner in pots

‘Twinny Rose’ is a stunner for pot display because the strongly branching bushes produce such a multitude of flowers over such a very long period.

Edible flowers

Snapdragon flowers are deliciously edible and make sweet treats in salads, stir fries, fruit salads, drinks and as garnish.
So plant some Snappies in your veggie patch for both nibbling and cutting for vases.

Deer & rabbit resistant

Happily, Snapdragons are not high on the menu list for rabbits and deer, who usually pass them by for fodder they find tastier.

Snappies can go on from year to year

Antirrhinum majus is actually a short lived perennial and will go on blooming for several years if left in the garden over winter.
Personally I leave mine in the garden from year to year instead, and just trim them back to reshoot each spring, rather than re-sowing them as an annual.

Approx. 30cm. High in a mass of flower x 20cm Wide ball of bloom.

SEED SOWING ADVICE: QUICK & EASY
Suitable for beginners & gardening with kids

Sow any time indoors in a punnet for an early start with flowers, or scatter directly in garden in winter and spring.

Indoors for quick & early plants: First sow the seeds on the surface of good quality seed raising mix.
Then pat the surface lightly to ensure good contact of seeds to the mix, but do not cover.
Because these seeds need light to germinate.

Now thoroughly moisten the sown punnet by standing it in a shallow water bath and allowing the moisture to percolate to the surface of the mix from below.

Then place it in a warm, well lit position (not in direct sunlight).

Temperatures of 15-25C are best for optimum and rapid germination.
You can use a heat mat if you have one.
Though it is not essential as these seeds are willing germinators.

Continue to keep moist by misting from a spray water bottle.

Seeds germinate in approx. 10-15 days.

Seed Count: 20 seeds approx. per pack. (Seeds of this new release are scarce)
