Callistephus chinensis ‘Ostrich Yellow Feather’
OSTRICH YELLOW FEATHER ASTER
Callistephus chinensis ‘Ostrich Yellow Feather’ is an absolute stunner for both florists and garden show.
Large, shaggy pom poms with fine quill petals
The creamy yellow blooms are extraordinary.
With very large flowers made up of long, fine, quilled petals giving a unique feathery appearance.
Great garden display & commercial quality cut flowers
‘Ostrich Yellow Feather’ is a great recent addition to the lovely China Aster family.
Though the Ostrich series have been bred for abundant crops of commercial quality cut flowers, ‘Ostrich Yellow Feather’ is equally worthwhile for a startling garden display.
Hardy, disease resistant & profuse blooming
Callistephus chinensis ‘Ostrich Yellow Feather’ has also been developed especially for hardiness, disease resistance, and profuse commercial flowering.
In line with the new direction in cut flower production for more disease resistant, robust growing varieties that don’t need cosseting.
Quickly and easily grown from seed.
And just as easily and quickly grown in the garden.
Where it is a spectacular annual flower for outstanding colour, and the blooms keep coming for months.
So the more you cut, the more ‘Ostrich Yellow Feather’ will produce. And it is a prodigious producer of blooms for a long season over summer and autumn.
For garden or pots
Plant in a Full Sun to Part Shade garden position.
Though ‘Ostrich yellow Feather’ suits both garden planting and does brilliantly in pots for massed colour display.

SEED SOWING ADVICE: QUICK & EASY
Suitable for beginners & gardening with kids
Sow any time indoors in punnets / or scatter directly in garden in winter-early spring.
China Asters germinate easily both in the garden and indoors
INDOORS: Sow the seeds on the surface of good quality seed raising mix.
Now barely cover the seeds with mix / vermiculate / fine grit to a maximum of their own diameter. Because these seeds need light to germinate.
First soak the sown punnet in a water bath, so the moisture percolates right through from the bottom to the top.
Then place in a warm, well-lit position and keep moist.
Temperatures of 18-21C approx. are best for rapid and optimum germination.
Seedlings then emerge in approx. 7-14 days.
SEED COUNT: 300 seeds per pack approx.
(We always aim to exceed the stated seed count, and give a generous serve).
