FIZZY PINK PICOTEE COSMOS

Cosmos bipinnatus ‘Fizzy Pink Dark Centre’ is a rosy new addition to our Cosmos family.
It has a profusion of flowers in rose-pink, with each bloom decorated by a fizz of petals in a deep cherry coloured centre.

Enchanting in garden, vase & commercial flower field

‘Fizzy Pink Dark Centre’ Cosmos impresses in either the home garden, the vase, or the commercial flower field.
Because it blooms early, profusely and continuously for a long season – with such striking rose blooms adorned with the fizzy cherry centres.

Prolific bloomer

‘Fizzy Pink Dark Centre’ is long & constant blooming through summer & autumn.
So it is rated as a superb, commercial quality cut flower, as well as giving a splendid garden display for months on end.
While pretty ferny foliage also adds to the lacy, gentle effect.

Hardy & easy to grow

Blooms are usually self self supporting with strong stems, especially if the plants are not overfed. So making them perfect for cut flowers.
And it is a wonderfully productive bloomer, adding to its commercial value as a cut flower, as well as the garden show.
Cosmos bipinnatus ‘Fizzy Pink Dark Centre’  is a stunner planted amongst white, pink or deep red roses, and a wonderful addition to any flower or cutting garden.

Quick from seed to bloom

Plant in Full Sun, though it can also tolerate a little Part Shade, particularly in hot districts.
It is a water-wise, heat & dry hardy grower, and quick and easy to raise from seed.
So it will happily begin to bloom 2-3 months after sowing the seed.

Low maintenance in the garden & field

Cosmos bipinnatus ‘Fizzy Pink Dark Centre’ is a tough, easy, low maintenance annual which self-seeds reliably in the garden every year, once you get it started.
It is a water-wise choice as it does not demand large amounts of water to perform well.

The more you cut the more you get

‘Fizzy Pink Dark Centre’ is a “cut and come again” bloomer.
So the more you cut armloads of flowers, the more blooms you get.

Compact and slender 75-90cm. High x 45cm. Wide approx.

Tip for best cut flowers

Cut the blooms when the buds are just beginning to unfurl.
So you have cut them before the bees have their fun. This helps to extend the vase life of the flowers.

Sowing tip for commercial flower farmers

Cosmos bloom most heavily when the daylight hours are 14 hours per day or less, unless they are mature before the very long days are upon them.
So for the heaviest and longest blooming crops – get your Cosmos seeds growing early indoors, and have them planted out, well grown and established before mid-summer.
Then sow a later crop to mature by mid-summer, because these will crop very heavily during autumn as the day lengths shorten.

Cut & come again

Cosmos really are “cut & come again” plants.
So the more you cut blooms, the more they will produce.
Deadheading any spent blooms will also keep them in vigorous flower production.

SOWING ADVICE: QUICK & EASY

Suitable for beginner and gardening with kids.

Sow any time of year indoors / or scatter directly in the garden in spring & early summer.

Sow indoors for quick & early plants: First sow the seeds in a punnet on the surface of good quality seed raising mix.
Now cover the seeds to a depth of approx. 6mm.

The stand the sown punnet in a shallow water bath and allow the moisture to percolate up to the surface of the mix from below.

And place in a warm, well-lit position (not in direct sunlight).
You can use a temperature controlled heat mat if you have one.
But it is not essential as these seeds are willing germinators.

Then continue to keep the sown punnet moist by misting from a spray water-bottle.
Covering the punnet with a clear plastic cover or plastic bag will also help to maintain the necessary consistent, even moisture.

Temperatures of 20-25°C are best for rapid and optimum germination.

Seedlings emerge in approx. 14-21 days.

Seed Count: 50 seeds per pack approx.
(We always aim to exceed the stated seed count, and give a generous serve).
