Butterfly wings of deep, rich gentian-blue

And this dwarf Delphinium blooms its head off all through summer, despite its compact size.
So it is perfect for showy display in small gardens, pots, or for an abundant supply of cut flowers.

Dwarf but blooms it’s head off

Plant Delphinium grandiflorum ‘Blue Pygmy’ in a Sunny spot to a little Part Shade.
And it is gorgeous planted along the front edge of a bed, or under roses and taller flowers.
Because of it’s dainty, lacy foliage; prolific of continuously repeating blooms; and knock-out colour – it is worthy of any prominent place.
And that includes feature pots, as this dwarf Delphinium will take to pot life very happily.

Easy to grow & low maintenance

‘Blue Pygmy’ is a frost hardy treasure, easy to grow and low maintenance.

Neat clump of pretty, lacy foliage.
Ideal for front edges, underplanting or pots.
Hardy perennial 30cm. High x 30cm. Wide.

Sow Delphinium seeds in autumn, winter or spring.

Sow indoors for quick plants & early blooms: First place seeds between two sheets of wet paper towel in a sealed plastic bag, and place in fridge for 36 hours.

Then remove, and sow the seeds in punnets on surface of good quality seed raising mix.
Now cover with 5mm of sieved mix or sandy grit.

And thoroughly moisten the whole punnet by standing in a shallow water bath, and allowing the moisture to percolate up to the surface of the mix from below.

Now place the moist, sown punnet in a warm, well-lit position (not in direct sunlight).

Because temperatures of 18-21°C approx are ideal for rapid and optimum germination.

And continue to keep moist by misting from a spray water bottle as required.

Then most seedlings emerge in approx. 10-20 days.
But do not discard punnet as some seeds may come later. This is a natural process for this plant because it staggers the germination of seeds to give them a better chance of sprouting into favourable weather conditions.

Seed Count: 60 seeds per pack approx.
(But we always aim to exceed the stated seed count, and give a generous serve).
