Digitalis trojana ‘Helen of Troy’

Digitalis trojana ‘Helen of Troy’ is a beautiful rarity from Turkey.
It has packed spires of “Fox’s Gloves” flowers in summer, later then normal Foxgloves.
Thus extending the spectacular season of spires in the garden.

With superb colouring and marking too.
Digitalis trojana has flowers of pale amber, throats of gold with rust veining, and a conspicuous drooping, pouting creamy-white lower lip.
So Helen of Troy is a very sulky, but devilishly attractive garden lady.
Each clump bears multiple spires up to 75cm. tall. So she ideal in the middle of the bed, or in front of rose bushes and shrubs (where she can distract from their knobbly knees).

Plus Digitalis trojana ‘Helen of Troy’ is particularly notable as a long bloomer.
Making her very valuable to the gardener, but also very valuable in summer to our flying friends, including bees and any other nectar loving pollinators.

But the beauty does not just stop with the flowers.
Digitalis trojana has the softest, furriest, most stoke-able foliage.
With all the leaves and stems covered with silken silver hairs (as befits a plant that needs to grow in very hot and dry times in Turkey).

And best of all, Digitalis is soundly perennial with the clumps enduring over the years.
Though it will also reseed itself with annual babies, so always maintaining a presence in your garden.
And rabbits and deer will not touch it with a bargepole.

Plant perennial Digitalis trojana ‘Helen of Troy’ in Full Sun to Part Shade.
Where you will find her very water-wise, frost hardy and very low maintenance.

75cm.High attractive flower spires x 30cm – 45cm. silken evergreen foliage clump.
