CALIFORNIAN POPPY ORANGE
So easy and so pretty for a hot and dry garden. Showy, orange cups are borne on thin erect stems above the blue-green finely divided foliage of Eschscholzia californica Californian Poppy Orange.
The flowers of Eschscholzia are produced for months, over spring, summer and autumn. They make a continual display without effort.
Eschscholzia is a desert plant by nature – so it thrives in heat and dry, and is very water-wise and drought resistant.
It enjoys Full Sun, well drained soil and is not a bit fussy about soil type.
It thrives in sandy or rocky soil, and is perfectly happy in seaside gardens.
It can be left to self seed and form a lovely groundcover in hot and dry places.
Eschscholzia is some-times classified as an annual in very cold regions ,but needless to say it self seeds quite readily from year to year, and is easily transplanted when young.
