Iris innominata Cracker Jack, Pacific Coast Iris Cracker Jack: (Mistydowns Seedling 2012) Old gold, brown falls heavily overlaid and veined claret wine. Standards are creamy gold veined claret. These hardy compact iris are ideal for the small garden. The fans of foliage are semi evergreen. They enjoy 1/2 shade to sun in moist, humus rich well drained soil. Tolerate dryer spots when established. 30cm H x 60cm W.
Sow Iris seed immediately onto good quality compost or seed raising mix. Cover the seed with mix or vermiculite to approximately their own depth. Natural germination will occur if kept in an unheated poly house or covered seed raising tray. Many seeds wait for Spring before emerging regardless of when they are sown so please give them a full season of growth before discarding. Germination can be quicker if kept at 15-20 Degrees C. Keep moist, but not saturated at all times. Plant out into the garden once large enough to handle and all danger of frost has past.
