Nepeta clarkei

Nepeta clarkei has beautiful long heads of powder blue trumpets with deep purple backs. So it is a lovely colour haze in the garden.
And the stems of blooms also make excellent cut flowers

Helps repel harmful insects

Tibetan Catmint has pleasantly aromatic foliage.
So this helpful insect repelling companion plant encourages aphids to buzz off somewhere else.

Nepeta clarkei will obligingly grow in Full Sun to Part Shade.
Because it is water-wise, but it also enjoys mulch & compost over summer.
And unlike the more commonly grown Catmints it is un-phased by summer humidity, so it is suited to gardeners in more sub-tropical climates.
Frost hardy as well, so a real all-rounder.

Upright perennial.

60cm H x 45cm W.

Sow Nepeta clarkei indoors in punnets at any time / or scatter in the garden in spring.

Sow seed on the surface of good quality seed raising mix. Then press gently into surface. And cover seed with mix to depth the same diameter of the seed.

Moisten the punnet from below by placing in a water bath.

Next place the punnet in warm position.
And cover the sown punnet with black plastic or cardboard, as dark helps the seeds to germinate.

So continue to keep moist by misting with a fine spray water-bottle.

Temperatures of 16 to 22°C are optimum for rapid germination.

Seeds germinate in 10 to 21 days approx.

SEED COUNT: 100 seeds per pack approx.
(We always aim to exceed the stated seed count, and give a generous serve).
