This extremely lovely plant from the Himalayas, has attractive, bright blue flowers, which are produced from mid-summer to autumn on tall stems up to 1 metre. It does best in moist, well-drained soil, in sun to semi-shade.
For best results, sow immediately onto a good seed-raising mix. Cover the seeds to approximately their own depth. They can be sown at any time, and germination can sometimes be quicker if kept at 15 to 20 degrees C. As many seeds have built in dormancy mechanisms, they may wait for natural spring germination, hence giving them a full season of growth.
