A compact rosette of wavy edged, broad, soft haired leaves give rise to a very handsome spike of rich pink foxglove like flowers each with a yellow speckled burgundy throat. Flower spikes arise in late spring summer and stand approximately 60cm tall. Enjoys full sun to part shade (shade in warmer climates). Well drained humus rich soil. Needs some protection from frost. This lovely perennial flowers for months especially if deadheaded. Our plants thrive in a sheltered shady corner of the garden. The roots are an important ingredient in Chinese medicine. 60cm H x 60cm W.
Rehmannia angulata seeds may be sown at any time onto surface of good quality seed raising mix. Just cover with fine grit or seed raising mix. Keep moist but well drained in a well lit area. Ideal temperature is 15-20°C. Sowing in late winter is ideal as natural germination will occur as the temperatures warm up. Germination takes around 3-5 weeks. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on in poly house until all danger of frost has passed.
