SEED SOWING ADVICE: QUICK & EASY
Suits beginners & gardening with kids
Sow at any time of year in punnets indoors, when suitable temperatures can be provided (18-25°C).
OR
Scatter directly in the garden in early spring or autumn.
Sow indoors for quick plants & early flowers: First sow the seeds in a punnet on the surface of good quality seed raising mix. Then barely cover with 3mm of sieved mix / vermiculite / fine sandy grit.
Now thoroughly moisten the sown punnet by it standing in a shallow water bath, until the moisture has percolated up from below to the surface of the mix.
Then place the moist, sown punnet in a warm, well-lit position indoors (not in any direct sunlight).
You can also use a heat mat if you have one. But is is not essential, as these seeds are willing germinators.
Temperatures 18-25°C approx. are best for rapid and optimum germination.
Continue to keep moist by misting from a spray water bottle.
Covering the punnet with a clear lid, or plastic bag, will also help to maintain consistent, even moisture.
Remove the clear cover as soon as germination has started.
Seedlings usually emerge in approx. 7-14 days.
Seed Count: 20 seeds per pack approx.
(We always aim to exceed the stated seed count, and give a generous serve).
