Mandavilla laxa Alba – Heavily scented clusters of large, white, trumpet flowers are borne on an evergreen vine during summer autumn. These are followed by striking long pods that are very ornamental during the winter months . This lush green vine has heart shaped leaves and grows to approximately 6 meters and makes an excellent screen on a fence or wall. A wonderful heavily scented climber fills the garden with perfume and is totally frost hardy in our garden with up to -6 degrees C in winter. Enjoys full sun in well drained soil low water need. In cooler climates is deciduous. 6m x 6m.
Sow Mandavilla laxa Alba seeds at any time but preferably in spring in good quality seed raising mix and lightly cover with grit or river sand. Needs a well lit area at 15-20 degrees C to germinate well. Prick our small seedlings into a 75mm pot and grow on before planting out in a warm sheltered position. Will need protection from severe frost in first season.
