Collomia grandiflora – Native of Western North America, this attractive Phlox relative has strong reddish stems holding terminal clusters of upward facing, narrow funnel shaped flowers ranging from pretty salmon to creamy white and palest butterscotch. This hardy biennial grows in dry soils in lightly wooded / shaded areas . It sets seed freely and finds its way where other plants will not grow. 50cm x 40cm.

Aquilegia vulgaris  Alchemists Gold – A hand picked selection of seed , choosing the most impressive of the dwarf golden and variegated leaf forms of Aquilegia., some of which are pom-pom form and are fragrant.  These new introduction plants are the cream of a long line of breeding.  Enjoys light shade to shade in humus rich well drained soil. 40cm x 30cm.

Sowing Advice

Seed can be sown at any time. Sow seed into good quality compost or seed raising mix. Cover with river sand or compost to seeds own depth.  If sown directly into ground seed may not germinate until its dormancy is broken by a period of chilling. (Winter). Moist seed tray can be placed a plastic bag in a well lit area (light helps germination) and then kept at on gentle heat of 15-20 degrees C. Germination may take 2 to 4 weeks. Transplant seedlings into small pots until large enough to plant out in the garden.
