Sowing Advice

Sow in from late August to Jan or sow indoors in autumn.
Sowing Direct:
Sow directly where they are to flower into finely prepared soil. Scatter on the surface and lightly press in. Keep moist until germination. Young plants can be thinned and planted elsewhere. For something different sow in the cracks between paving stones or mix with a little clay and press into hollowed mortar joints in walls.
Sowing Indoors:
Sow very thinly, on the surface of trays, pots, etc Use good quality free draining seed raising mix. Do not cover the seed as they need light to germinate, just lightly press the seeds into the mix. Place in a propagator or warm place to maintain a temperature of 15 to 18°C  .germinates in 14 to 30 days. When seedlings are large enough to handle, prick out into pots and grow on. Once they reach 2 to 3cm tall, Plant in the garden from  the end of November onwards.
