Description

Rudbeckia hirta ‘Marmalade’ GLORIOSA DAISY –
These annual orange yellow cone-flowers are a dwarf variety, growing to around 40cms. Perfect for teaming with low grasses to create the popular prairie look in your summer/autumn borders. Super hardy, they will tolerate heat and poor soils. Enjpoys full sun and has low water need.

Sowing Advice-
Sow Rudbeckia hirta ‘Marmalade’ seed in late winter to late spring. Late August to early October. Rudbeckia seeds are best sown indoors in good quality seed raising mix. Just cover the seed with vermiculite and place in a propagator or warm place maintaining a temperature of 18 to 20°C. Keep moist but not wet at all times. Germination should occur between 10 to 15 days.
Transplant  into 7.5 cm pots when seedlings have developed two proper leaves and are large enough to handle.  Grow on and harden off gradually and plant out into permanent position when temperatures start to rise. Space 30-45 cm apart.

Sowing Direct-

Late October to early December. Sow thinly, 3 mm deep in drills 30 cm apart in well-cultivated soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Water ground regularly, especially in dry periods. When large enough to handle, thin out seedlings so that they are finally 30 to 45 cm apart.
