Peruvian Pepper Tree

Commonly known in Australia as The Peppercorn Tree this hardy small tree is suited to our harsh climate and survives very well in dry regions and is an ideal shade tree. The fish back fern like foliage is evergreen and has a drooping habit. During spring, racemes of small white flowers are borne profusely in panicles at the ends of the drooping branches, these quickly ripen to bright pink  fruits (peppercorns). Enjoys full sun, dry.

Sowing Advice

Soak seed in a glass of lukewarm water for 12 hours before being planted. Sow seed onto good quality, well draining, seed raising mix  and cover with mix to own depth. Keep moist but not wet and place in a well lit, unheated poly house. Once germination occurs do not over water. Pot up once seedlings reach 75cm and grow on in protection of poly house.  Plant outdoors once all  danger of frost has passed.
