Paeonia delavayi VICTORIAN TREE PEONEY –

A spectacular tree peony shrub when it covers itself with deep burgundy cups in early summer. Eventually upright 1.8m Handsome foliage of large, deeply cut leaves. Leaves colour red and butter yellow in Autumn.

Sowing Advice-
Sow onto the surface of moist well-drained seed raising mixture. Cover seed with 5cm. of mix. Place punnet outside where it will get cold over winter. Do not use artificial heat. Seeds need a winter of chilling to germinate in the spring. Once germinated, place in a well aired and lit area and grow on in pots.

Plant in the garden-
Prefers some shade – 1/2 shade/dappled sun, morning sun. Frost Hardy. Soil type – Loam, Clay based, sandy if rich soil; Alkaline, neatral, acid. Likes leaf litter and humus. Does not like boggy soils. Live for many decades. Do not disturb or divide.
