Anacyclus pyrethrum var. depressus f. compactum ‘Silver Kisses’
SILVER KISSES PYRETHRUM

Anacyclus pyrethrum var. depressus f. compactum ‘Silver Kisses’ is a super landscaping plant, particularly for water and heat challenged gardens.

Brilliant groundcover plant for heat & water challenged gardens

But despite pretty looks and lovely colouring – it is bone hardy and willing in hot and dry conditions.

Dense groundcover mat of silver-grey ferny foliage

The colouring of “Silver Kisses Pyrethrum” is delightful.
With a ground hugging, dense mat of silver-grey-blue ferny foliage.

Topped with mass of cherry backed white daisies & cherry buds

A carpet of deep cherry buds, and dainty white daisies, cover the silvery foliage mat right through spring and summer.
But the white daisies are cupped rather than flat – so every petal flashes a cherry back.
So the whole plant sparkles with bloom and colour.

Long blooming till summer’s end & sparkling all year

Blooming begins in mid-spring, and continues till summer’s end.
But the evergreen mat of silver ferny foliage sparkles on all year – so the plant is an attractive contrast year round.

Weed suppressing mat

“Silver Kisses Pyrethrum” is a particularly dense and tight growing form of the original wild foundling in Morocco – so it is even neater, with superior weed suppressing coverage.

Hardy in heat dry & frost

Anacyclus pyrethrum var. depressus f. compactum ‘Silver Kisses’ is native to open, rocky slopes in Morocco.
So it is well acquainted with hot, dry summers, periods of baking heat, as well as hard frosty winters.

Water-wise & drought tolerant

Plant in full sun, and it is of course drought resistant once established, as a wild plant of Morocco.
So it is ideally suited to hot, dry gardens and arid areas in Australia.

Loves sand gravel & pots

“Silver Kisses Pyrethrum” just adores rocky, sandy, gravelly and well drained soils, not to mention terracotta pots where it looks very stylish.

Rabbit & deer resistant

Fortunately rabbits and deer do not find the ferny foliage tasty and leave it alone (though a starving beast will eat the fence posts of course).

Beloved by bees pollinators & birds

While all our flying friends cant resist the daisy flowers for their sweet pollen and nectar.
With the long blooming season a real bonus to keep pollinators in the garden.

SEED SOWING ADVICE: QUICK & EASY
Suitable for beginners & gardening with kids

Sow at any time of year indoors, whenever suitable temperatures can be provided (16-18°C).
OR
Sow directly in the garden in late winter – early spring.

Sow indoors for quick & early plants: First soak the seeds overnight in a weak bleach solution (1 part household bleach to 10 parts water.
This helps to initiate h=germination.

Then sow the seeds in a punnet on the surface of good quality seed raising mix.
And gently pat the seeds to the surface of the mix to ensure good contact.
But barely cover the seeds with sieved mix / fine vermiculite.
Do not bury deeply because Anacyclus seeds need light to germinate.

Now thoroughly moisten the punnet by standing it in a shallow water bath, and allowing the moisture to percolate up to the surface of the mix from below.

Drain and wrap the moist sown punnet in cling-wrap and place in the freezer for 2-3 days.
This will also help to break the seeds natural dormancy.

Then remove, unwrap, re-moisten and place in a warm, well-lit position (not in any direct sunlight as this will dry the seeds out too much).

Temperatures of 16-18°C approx. are best for rapid and optimum germination.
You can use a temperature controlled heat mat if you have one, to maintain consistent warmth, as these seeds respond to gentle heat.

Continue to keep consistently moist by misting from a spray water-bottle regularly.
Consistent moisture and not drying out aids germination.
Covering the punnet with a clear plastic lid or plastic bag will also help to maintain necessary consistent moisture. Remove the covering as soon as sprouts appear.

Seedlings begin to emerge in approx. 10-21 days.

Prick out the baby seedlings as soon as they emerge and develop their first set of true leaves.
And pot up to grow on to garden size.

Seed Count: 15 seeds per pack approx.
(We always aim to exceed the stated seed count, and give a generous serve).
