Mix of pinks, white & reds, with each flower prettily ruffed, make Astrantia major a delight for both garden display and florists.
And the everlasting type flowers are borne profusely and generously through spring & summer.
Astrantia major is also highly valued as a commercial cut flower, as it lasts extremely well in a vase, as well as creating a dainty, airy look in the garden.
Astrantia major is ideal in Part Shade.
Because it loves a spot with Morning Sun only, or Dappled Shade throughout the day.
And thoroughly approves of an easterly aspect.
Astrantia major is a hardy perennial for woodland conditions and shaded gardens.
And it is also very frost hardy.

SEED SOWING ADVICE:
Sow any time indoors in punnets / or scatter directly in garden in autumn, winter or early spring.
INDOORS: Sow the seeds on the surface of good quality seed raising mix.
Then press them gently into the surface of the mix, to ensure good contact.
And barely cover seeds with mix / vermiculate / fine grit.
Because these seeds need light to germinate.
Now thoroughly moisten the mix throughout, by placing the punnet in a water bath, until the moisture percolates up to the surface of the mix.
Immediately cling-wrap the moist, sown punnet (or use a plastic bag) & place the punnet in the fridge (not freezer) for 3-5 weeks.
Then remove, unwrap & place in well lit position.
Remember these seeds need light (not direct sunlight) to germinate.
Temperatures of 15-20°C are best for rapid and optimum germination.
And continue to keep the punnet moist.
Seedlings emerge in approx. 21-30 days.
SEED COUNT: 30 seeds per pack approx.
(We always aim to exceed the stated seed count, and give a generous serve).
