SEED SOWING ADVICE: QUICK & EASY
Sow at any time of year in punnets indoors whenever suitable temperatures can be provided
OR
Scatter directly in the garden in late winter-early spring.
Sow indoors for maximum germination & quick plants: First sow the seeds in a punnet on surface of good quality seed raising mix.
Then gently pat the seeds to the mix to ensure good contact.
Now cover the seeds with sieved mix lightly, to a depth the same as the diameter of the seed.
Because light is needed for germination – so do not bury the seeds deeply.
Now thoroughly moisten the punnet by standing it in a shallow water bath and allowing the moisture to percolate up to the surface of the mix from below.
Then place the moist, sown punnet in a warm, well-lit position (not in any direct sunlight).
Temperatures of 20-25C approx. are best for optimum germination.
You can use a heat mat if you have one, to maintain ideal temperatures.
Continue to keep the punnet consistently moist by misting from a spray water-bottle.
Covering the punnet with a clear plastic lid, or a plastic bag will help to maintain consistent moisture.
Seedlings emerge in approx. 10-21 days.
Seed Count: 10 seeds per pack approx.
(We always aim to exceed the stated seed count, and give a generous serve).
