Lilium martagon var. album
WHITE TURK’S CAP LILY

Lilium martagon var. album is spectacular in woodland conditions under trees and shrubs.

Impressive flocks of white Turk’s Cap Lilies

Where it bears impressive, large branching stems with a flock of white “Turk’s Cap” shaped blooms in the summer.
Hence the common name of Turk’s Cap Lily.

Sweet scent & wonderful cut flowers

And these lovely pagodas of blooms have such a sweet scent, that wafts through the summer garden.
Plus they make superb and very impressive cut flowers.

Low maintenance & hardy woodlander

So plant in the Dappled Part Shade under trees and shrubs, or a Morning Sun only position.
Lilium martagon var. album is very hardy and easy to grow under trees and shrubs, and will happily return each year with little to no attention from you.
So it is definitely a low maintenance, hardy and enduring, stoloniferous bulb.
As a woodlander, it of course enjoys humus rich, well-drained soil.
But it is not a thirsty plant to grow, as it is dormant as an underground bulb during the hotter and drier parts of the year.

1.2m High branching pagodas of Turk’s Cap white blooms x 60cm Wide tower of slender, upright, and pretty hand shaped foliage.

SEED SOWING ADVICE:

Sow seeds in punnets indoors at any time.

INDOORS: Sow seeds on their sides, in punnets into the surface of good quality seed raising mix.
Then barely cover with grit/sieved mix/or sand.

Now place the punnet in a warm, well lit position (not in direct sunlight).
Temperatures of 18-20°C are ideal.

Continue to keep the punnet warm and moist for 4 weeks.

Then cling-wrap the moist sown punnet and place it in the fridge (not freezer) for 6-9 weeks.

Now Remove from fridge, unwrap punnet and place again in a warm, well lit-position at approx. 18-20°C.

Seedlings emerge within approx. 30 days.
But patience – do not discard punnet, as some seedlings may come later.
Because this is a natural trick of this plant to stagger the emergence of its seedlings, to allow them the best chance of sprouting into ideal weather conditions.

SEED COUNT: 20 seeds per pack approx.
(We always aim to exceed the seed count and give a generous serve).
